Program Details: 

Jim and Jennie will provide information on the current status of internships during the pandemic – focusing on college requirements & expectations, student concerns in regard to finding internships and working during the pandemic, and employer response to student internships during this time.    Additional conversation will include options for employer engagement and connection with students during a semester of hybrid learning and internship limitations.  Jim and Jennie will also be fielding participant questions.

About the Speakers:

 Jim has been the Dean of the Francis J. Noonan School of Business since 2018, coming to Loras College from Marymount University in Arlington, VA where he served as the Associate Dean of the School of Business & Technology.  In addition to his 16 years in higher education as a Business Law and Sport Management Professor, Jim has also spent 23 years a licensed insurance agent primarily serving collegiate and professional athletes.  Jim has a law degree from Southern Illinois University and a Bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University.  He and his wife, Vicki, are originally from the Chicagoland suburbs and four kids.

 

Jennie received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin –Platteville and her Masters  of Science degree in Counselor Education also from UW-Platteville.  Jennie spent 15 years as a School Counselor with Holy Family Catholic Schools in Dubuque before leaving to implement a new mentoring program for the Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA.  For the last 5 years, Jennie has served as the Academic Internship Coordinator with the Center for Experiential Learning at Loras College.  Jennie sees her role as that of advocate for the college, student, and employer partner.
