About the Speakers:
Matt Shefchik is a seasoned compensation expert with over 20 years of experience, specializing in employee and executive compensation, sales incentives, and job evaluation. With a foundation in consulting and an executive role in a human resources firm, Matt brings a wealth of knowledge to his field. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Management & Human Resources and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is SHRM-SCP certified. An active participant in the HR community, Matt volunteers for the UW Carbone Cancer Center and the Waunakee Area Education Foundation boards and lectures at UW-Madison's Continuing Studies HR Management Program. His extensive experience and commitment to the field make him a distinguished figure in human resources and compensation management.
Chris Williams holds the position of Assistant Vice President in the Employee Benefits division at Cottingham & Butler, joining the company in 2014. Before his current role, Chris was pivotal as the firm's inaugural corporate counsel, overseeing litigation and providing legal guidance across the Cottingham & Butler enterprises. His expertise extends to strategic consulting on employee benefits, handling HR issues, and navigating compliance with state and federal regulations. Prior to his tenure at Cottingham & Butler, Chris practiced law in Dubuque, IA, focusing on private and public interest law, notably in advocacy for veterans and active service members in Chicago, IL. His professional background is complemented by a solid educational foundation, with a Bachelor of Arts from Loras College and a Juris Doctor (JD) from The University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. Chris's blend of legal and strategic consulting experience, particularly in employee benefits, positions him as a valuable asset to business leaders seeking informed advice in these areas.
